Liapades and Gardelades
Liapades is a traditional village located about 11 kilometers from Ermones and approximately 21 kilometers from the historic center of Corfu Town. This settlement has a rich history that seems to date back to the 16th century. The village is characterized by its picturesque houses and narrow streets that wind through it from end to end.

One significant landmark is the old Liapades Primary School, which has been designated as a monument since 2004. Liapades is close to the area of Paleokastritsa, hosting some of the island’s most stunning beaches. One of these is Rovinia Beach, known for its golden sands and turquoise waters. Just outside the village is Klimatia Beach, a small cove perfect for nature lovers, where the green countryside meets the blue sea. Another remarkable spot is Limni Beach, a narrow strip of land that connects the mainland to a lush rock in the sea, appearing as if it came straight out of a fairy tale.
Just two kilometers north of Liapades is the village of Gardelades, built on a low green hill. In Gardelades, visitors can appreciate the beautiful architectural features of Corfu’s countryside, such as old mansions, narrow lanes, and charming cafes and tavernas. The village’s small yet well-kept square could easily serve as a backdrop for a period film. The name of the village derives from the Italian “gardel,” which translates to “lookout,” likely due to its panoramic views of the valley.
Both Liapades and Gardelades are among the most traditional villages on the island, maintaining their historical identity to this day. They offer visitors rental apartments and small traditional tavernas serving classic Corfiot dishes. Meals such as pastitsada, sofrito, burdeto, and bianco are perfect for those wanting to explore Corfiot culture and character through gastronomy.
